Shay Mitchell is Shay Mitchell is a Canadian actor, model and entrepreneur. Her best-known role is as Emily Fields on the Freeform show Pretty Little Liars. When she was a pro at dancing and modelling, she wanted to take on acting and began taking acting classes in Toronto. Mitchell was able to land a couple of commercials, and guest appearances on a variety of television shows. Her big break came when she was filmed as Emily Fields. She was praised for her abilities by critics as the viewers. Her film career began with the film Dreamland, followed by Mother's Day, and The Possession Of Hannah Grace. Her role in the psychological thriller series "You" brought her more recognition. Alongside acting, she has ventured into the world of writing. With Michaela Blayne, Mitchell co-authored an adult novel called Bliss. Shay Mitchell was raised in Ontario by her parents Mark Mitchell & Precious Gonzalez. She was born 10th April 1987. Shay Mitchell is Filipina descent, and her father is of Scottish/Irish origins. Mitchell's cousin has the name of Lea Salonga who is a well-known musical theater singer and actress. Mitchell was a student at Rockridge Secondary School before moving on to West Vancouver Secondary. In her teens, she had modeled for a variety of companies across the globe. She traveled through Barcelona, Bangkok, and Hong Kong, ultimately returning home in Toronto as she continued her studies in acting.
